A few days of downtime from work calls for slow making. I have some knitting on the go (a couple of years so far!), I made these Christmas decorations from fabric I felted and embroidered and I have a few little projects I'm hoping to complete. I wish you much warmth and love this Winter solstice lovelies. Happy Christmas πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„ Experiments in stencilling part 2: Stencilled kingfisher on watercolour on paper. This one feels promising. I think some experimentation with the background colour is next but I love the result and the possibilities! Happy Tuesday lovelies πŸ’•πŸŽ„ Experiments in stencilling part 1: These kingfishers have been so enjoyable to create! Stencilling is definitely my new fave. The aim was to make these into Christmas decorations to pop into my shop but time has run out this year and that's ok. Let's just say I'm ahead on Christmas 2023! Have a good day loves πŸ•Š Morning lovelies, the kids are debating whether school will be cancelled because of the snow, but I am sure my work later won't be! Until then, I'll be staying quiet and cosy inside with my big girl who is home from Uni. Today, my thoughts are with those who are unhoused or will struggle to heat their homes. Love to you all πŸ’• When this idea popped into my head, I just had to try it out. I've used two pieces of 3mm 100% wool felt in cream joined together with blanket stitch for the trees and 2 pieces of 1mm 100% wool felt in brown prepared in the same way for the bases. I've added foraged natural finds, which I've dried or pressed if necessary, such as feathers, flowers, seed heads and grasses. They can be fragile or brittle so do need to be sewn on with care. I used a couching stitch in two or three strands of metallic embroidery thread. Finally I've added a sparkly length of yarn to hang them. Happy Friday πŸŒΏπŸ‚πŸŒ±πŸŒ² Festive faffing is my fave. I love making things cosier as Winter approaches. My lady with wings ('She Grew Wings', embroidery pattern available in my shop) on the right of the shelf seems to span all seasons - she's been up since Spring! Perhaps she can be an angel for Christmas. Have a good day loves πŸŽ„πŸ‘ΌπŸΎ The Autumn term is usually a long one of much change and this one has been no different. It has been so so important to be kind to myself, to rest when I can and to be flexible and patient about the ambitions I have for my small business. Ideas are never lacking but time is more limited than ever now that I have another job. I spent some joyful moments on these felt and foraged finds decorations recently. I'll show you the results soon. Today, I have 2 poorly ones at home but I'm very much hoping to find time for creativity...we'll see. Love to you πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• I've been a doing a spot of gentle stitching whilst recovering from covid - mixing natural textiles with foraged nature finds and I'm loving the combo. Today, the kids are off school and I'm really hoping to convince them that a little walk into the woods will do us good! Happy Friday lovelies 🌿🌿🌿 The Kingfishers are here! My new two-in-one digital embroidery pattern is now available to download from my Etsy shop (link in profile). It is suitable for beginners with just 4 basic embroidery stitches to achieve either design. The Kingfisher with hope is designed to be displayed in the hoop and The Kingfisher with crown is designed as a decoration, possibly for Christmas! Full and detailed instructions, with templates, an Illustrated Colour & Stitch Guide and Stitch Glossary are provided. Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope your week is a good one loves! πŸ’•
