Dear loves
It is Autumn and although it has been quite warm in the UK, even summery on occasion, I am so glad this season of abundance and preservation is here. Summer was way too hot for this perimenopausal woman. When it comes, I am relishing the cooler air, the rain and wearing long sleeves. Even though I love how grounded and fresh I feel walking around barefoot during the Summer, I am looking forward to wearing my boots, getting my clomp on and swishing through the fallen leaves!
You may have followed my ‘Scroll of the Year’ project this year; my visual, textile journal, where I document small and simple joys, moments, feelings and dreams. If you have, you will know that June was my last entry. I have decided that it will be just that, my last. Perhaps I should rename it ‘Scroll of the Half Year’.

You can read each entry and see pictures of each month by clicking on the months in the captions below the images…

I feel good about where I got to with this ambitious project. I have poured many hours into it, I have documented numerous joys, moments and thoughts and I have made many many stitches! I am most grateful for how it became a place to experiment with my developing style. I began creating imagery using black embroidery thread and that is very much what I still do. Over the months, I learnt that I wanted to introduce my own hand printed fabric, more colour and a vintage element to my work. It has very much led me to where I am now and that perhaps was it’s job.

I now spend my days in the pursuance of a mixed media art practice and I love it! I am working with paper, fabric and paper-like fabric. I am printing, mark making, collaging, patchworking, sketching, embroidering and writing, by hand and sometimes with the help of machines. I am mostly inspired by nature and nostalgia. I feel like I may be home…

I am excited to tell you more about my practice, to share my discoveries with you and to introduce some new products.
Onwards and upwards!
Thanks for reading and thanks as always for your support.
Love and warmth always,
Lu xxxxxxx
