I poured my heart and thousands of stitches into my Scroll of the Year project, learning so much along the way, about myself and my artistic process. You can read an update on the blog today. Big thanks to my youngest for helping me to film the unravelling scroll! The machine stitched leaf toppers I created recently work really well as flowers too! Other collage elements I have used here are vintage papers, hand printed organdie and postcards printed onto photo fabric, joined with gold thread. A new fabric collage in the making, testing out some vintage natural history imagery, such as these fish, which I have adapted and had printed on fabric. I am hoping to make them available as fabric strips which can be used in all sorts of projects, both paper and fabric based. More details soon! I'm sharing more leaf love today! Check my reel a few posts ago showing how I make these leaf toppers 🍂🍃🍁 Despite the warm summery weather we are having here in the UK, I am leaning in to Autumn and this pop of orange gives me the Autumn feels. I've used the machine embroidered leaves here as toppers for collage clusters that are destined for my art journal. The making of a machine embroidered leaf. Check out my last post to see the different shapes I created. I love how these leaves are delicate but impactful in a collage. I'll show you what I've done with them soon! Autumn equinox blessings to you 🍁🍂🍃 It's a bit summery again here in the UK but I'm looking forward to cosier times, wearing longer sleeves and immersing myself in all that Autumn brings. There are things that happen to you that cause seismic shifts in your life path. There are hard and brave decisions you might make that will effect you and those you love in all sorts of ways but are necessary and for the best. Even though I know that I made the right decision to leave my marriage of 21 years, I still feel heartbroken 4 years later, I'm still working through it and probably will be for a long while yet. Importantly my heart is still open, my capacity for love has not dimished (especially for myself and my beautiful brood) and I am still hopeful of finding love again. Two more art journal pages with mixed media collage of vintage papers, hand printed organdie fabric and embroidery...
