This is where 'Shapes' (see yesterday's post) lead me. I've used the same process, collaging vintage sewing patterns, sheet music, postcards etc to card, adding a felt flower instead and then some embroidered detail. I followed the thread back to botanicals, which feels right. I'll show you more soon! If an idea pops into your head enough times, I find it's a good idea to follow the thread and see where it leads. 'Shapes' kept popping into my head so I took them out and created them. The background is either plain recycled card or consists of collaged vintage papers and imagery (postcards, sewing patterns, botanical illustrations etc) on card, with felt or hand printed fabric shapes stuck on top. Finally embroidery is added, using traditional stitches in new ways. Poking holes in the card before stitching is so satisfying! Follow the thread loves, it might just lead to new and interesting places. Evolution is the key! It took me a little while but May #scrolloftheyear is complete and the story behind the images I have stitched is up on my blog. Highlights of May were the roses in my garden and my girl coming back from Uni after completing her studies. May #scrolloftheyear took a back seat whilst I stitched 'Meadow' (see yesterday's post) but that's ok. I've used scraps from the fabric I hand printed to create a patchwork background, which I'll be stitching May moments and joys on to. My new stick and stitch dissolvable embroidery patches pack, Meadow, is now available. It contains 11 self-adhesive, water-soluble patches printed with my own hand-drawn botanical designs. Each pack contains a leaflet with instructions on how to use dissolvable embroidery patches and stitch suggestions for each design. Suitable for beginners, these water-soluble embroidery patches can be used for all sorts of projects. There are so many possibilities! Keep an eye on my blog for stitch tutorials and project ideas. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Showcasing 'Meadow', 11 botanical stick and stitch embroidery patches. Pack launches Monday 8th June. Happy Weekend 🌸🌸🌸 'Meadow' stick and stitch dissolvable embroidery patches pack, containing 11 botanicals designed and hand-drawn by me, launches Monday. This is a little showcase of what each design could look like depending on the stitches you choose (stitch suggestions included in pack). If you stick it out until the end (thank you), there is a reveal of the textile book I created. Have you tried needle turn appliqué? It is immensely satisfying to turn the fabric under to create a smooth folded edge. Top tip: For simple shapes like this rectangle, I create card templates and use them to create a folded edge with a hot iron before stitching. I'm still stitching up my 'Meadow' book, to showcase the 11 botanical dissolvable embroidery patches pack launching Monday 8th June! 'Meadow' dissolvable embroidery patches all stitched up. Swipe to see each one up close. I'm using needle turn appliqué to sew them to felt squares to create a textile book, which will showcase them beautifully.
